Students, don’t miss this amazing opportunity! Kodiak Electric Association is sponsoring full scholarships for two Kodiak Island high school sophomores or juniors to attend the ICUA Youth Rally Leadership Camp July 6-11, 2015. The scholarship winners will travel to sunny Caldwell, Idaho to meet up with other students from across the Pacific Northwest for a full week of learning and fun while strengthening their communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities. They’ll learn all about the electric utility industry and electric cooperatives, and explore a wide variety of careers in the industry. Participants will also compete for scholarships and a chance to win a trip to Washington, D.C.
This is KEA’s second year to sponsor scholarships to the Youth Leadership Camp as part of our commitment to enriching the educational experience of local students and supporting future members of the cooperative. Kodiak High School students Alicia Kostelecky and Joseph Beltran attended the 2014 Camp with 90 other participants from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
“It was one of the best experiences of my life by far,” Alicia said after attending the camp. “It gave me the opportunity to step off of my rock and out of my comfort zone, and into a whole new unfamiliar world.” Joseph added, “I had a great time, met a lot of people, and learned a lot.”
